Wow! I cannot believe we are down the last couple days before lift off. Zaithwa (Zee) and I will be heading to New York for fashion week. As I am writing right now I still have yet to even start packing. I literary just came from my friend and couture designer Lisa Marie for my last fitting.
I will be picking up the rest of my wardrobe tomorrow evening. Besides, I have few pieces that are being shipped to New York for me from designers outside of the country. Which I will mention later on in. Hoping and praying everything works out according to plan. When it comes to traveling I am such a procrastinator.
I wish I could properly plan like my hubby who loves prepping everything weeks in an advance. Not to mention that I don’t pack light. For some reason, I always find myself with three suit bags and a carry on that is basically a suit case.. Please don’t judge me.
Many of you know that my hubby Michael and I travel together every September to New York for fashion week. Sadly, this year Michael won’t be traveling with me due to his job. I have never traveled to New York without Michael, so when we found out that he couldn’t get days off work, I immediately canceled the trip also. But, Michael didn’t want me to cancel our trip just because he couldn’t come. He told me to ask one of my friends to tag along. First person that came to my mind was my best friend and designer Kate Kinkle but she already had plans and couldn’t change things around.
Out of nowhere Zee’s name popped in my head. I texted her immediately “Hey doll, do you want to go to New York Fashion Week with me?”. Within seconds she replied, ” Hell Yea Girl”. After a few texts messages, we started looking for hotels. We quickly found out that staying in a hotel was going to be super expensive. Our second option was Airbnb. If you don’t know Airbnb is an online marketplace and hospitality service, enabling people to lease or rent short-term lodging including vacation rentals, apartment rentals, homestays, hostel beds, or hotel rooms.
For the next three days we looked for the perfect Airbnb and we found a fabulous 5 star luxury loft for seven days in Wall Street. Won’t lie it’s was a bit expensive but it was absolutely worth it. For seven days, we paid $1,998.00, splitting $999 each. Still way cheaper than us staying in a hotel. Plus, we get the entire loft to ourselves and it’s in the center of all the places we need to be. So, excited to be attending New York Fashion Week with Zee. This will be Zee’s first time attending NYFW. I am sure this will be an experience she will never forget.
For the next seven days, our schedule is completely booked with back to back fashion shows. I kid you not some days I have five to six shows to attend and some of the shows are showing at the same time. I am not sure how we will split our time to attend all the shows. Let me not forget to mention that every morning around 8am we have a photoshoot with our photographer Michelle Terrie. I don’t drink coffee but I have a feeling that during these coming days I will drink all the coffee that New York offers to survive and off course all you dolls will tag along. So, make sure you are following all my social media platforms. You don’t want to miss out on anything. See you on the next blog post.
