Hooray! Today is the first day of New York Fashion Week 2017, it still feels quite surreal. I have previously attended two shows in 2015 & 2016 and each year seems to offer more and more. I am also certain that 2018 will even be more incredible.
The day starts at 6 AM. Did my hair, makeup and steamed my two looks to perfection. My photographer Michelle Terris came straight from the airport and met me at the flat. Since I was staying on Wall street it wasn’t hard for us to find a promising location to shoot.
We eventually stumbled over to the Financial District in Manhattan. My first look was an African print shirt and shorts from SGTC by Detoke, a Nigerian designer. Completed my look by wearing my JustFab blue Maite heels. Pinching with a finish pop of color rocking my tan bamboo ark bag from Cilla James Selection was good form.
I displayed this look while attending the Indonesian Diversity Runway Show. One show that I will NEVER forget. Designers Vivi Zubedi, Melia Wijaya, Dian Pelangi, Catherine Njoo, Barli Asmara and Doris Dorthea left me on the edge of my seat. Lucky for you lovely dolls I recorded everything. I will be uploading soon on my Youtube channel so don’t forget to subscribe.
My second look was also from SGTC by Detoke. I must say this flare tube and high waited pants turned heads on Wall Street. Worn with confidence at Supima Design Competition hosted by costume designer, creative director and author June Ambrose. An amazing show full of talented designers.
To be honest every designer should have won because each designer was completely different and told a story that left you wanting to see more. However, the 2017 Supima design competition winner was Alyssa Wardrop. She is now headed to Paris to present her collection during Paris Fashion Week
Shortly after the show my friend Zee and I attended Supima after party. Which was an absolute riot. Made friends with Denise Hansen and D Hansen whose husbands grow Supima cotton.
Within a few short minutes I learned so much about cotton. The ladies, Zee and I bonded over cotton, fashion, wine and photo booth. We made so many silly videos.
We basically took over the photo booth. By the end of the night all I wanted to do is take off my heels, shower and pass out. And I did just that. Tomorrow was a new day filled with even more adventures. Stay tuned.
